About HeartMath South Africa
Why We’re Here
HeartMath South Africa exists to support people in building coherence as a lived capacity — not just something to understand, but something to rely on in daily life, leadership, and service.
The HeartMath system offers powerful, science-based tools for emotional self-regulation and resilience. Our work focuses on what happens after the learning — when people begin integrating those tools into real situations, relationships, and responsibilities.
This is not about doing more.
It’s about living with greater steadiness, clarity, and integrity.
How We Work
We honour both scientific rigour and lived inner experience.
Our approach is:
-
practical and grounded,
-
paced rather than pressured,
-
relational rather than performative.
We don’t rush people toward outcomes.
We support them to build coherence that holds — especially when life is complex, uncertain, or demanding.
Different regions naturally develop different expressions of the work.
HMSA has evolved a strong focus on application and integration, shaped by years of working closely with individuals, coaches, and leaders navigating real-world challenges.
Stewardship of the Work
HeartMath South Africa operates as a licensed HeartMath organisation, aligned with the international HeartMath Institute and its global network.
Our responsibility is not only to deliver training, but to hold the integrity of the work — ensuring that HeartMath tools are applied with clarity, care, and respect for the human systems they affect.
This means supporting people beyond certification, and meeting them where theory becomes practice.
Alan Strydom
Alan Strydom serves as Managing Director and Lead Trainer for HeartMath South Africa.
His work focuses on supporting people at the point where training ends and real-world application begins — helping individuals, coaches, and leaders integrate coherence into daily life, professional practice, and leadership roles.
Alan brings a grounded, relational approach to the work, informed by years of training, mentoring, and direct experience across South Africa, the UK, Europe, and beyond.
His role is not to be the centre of the work, but to help hold a clear, steady container in which others can find their voice, direction, and way of serving through coherence.
